My name is Chris and together with my wife, Mairi, we run Orraman Leather.
My leather craft journey started at the beginning of 2020 when I lost my job due to covid. I was a Scottish folk musician so work was put on hold with no return date in sight. I decided I couldnt just sit around not doing anything so I decided to start Orraman Leather and what a journey it's been in such a short space of time.
I wanted to create a business which encapsulates all my passions: handmade heirloom quality leather goods, Scottish culture and my family.
The two Scottish words you will see here a lot are "Orraman" and "Clan". Orraman' is a Scots word for 'handyman' or 'Jack of all Trades' whilst Clan is the Scottish word for family.
So what are our roles?
I'm the crafter. All of our products are 100% made by me, by hand, every step of the way in the west coast of Scotland.
Mairi does a lot of the behind the scenes work. With her business degree she runs that side of things as well as spending hours sitting on the computer and packaging up all the parcels. This allows me to just focus on making you lovely people your leather goods.
Thank you for taking the time to check out our small business.
