This live edge walnut dining table is crafted from a single, uninterrupted slab, showcasing the natural grain, deep tone variations, and imperfections that define true character. Inspired by the Japanese Wabi-Sabi philosophy, the cracks are intentionally left open – untreated and honest – embracing the natural aging of the tree.
The table features a striking darkened area, the result of a chemical reaction between walnut tannins and an old piece of embedded metal. During the crafting process, a bundle of barbed wire was discovered inside the wood – a hidden remnant of the tree’s past life as a fence post, likely used 60–70 years ago. This discovery was preserved, not erased, giving the piece a story that transcends function. The sculptural base, also made of live edge walnut, completes the design with continuity and elegance.
Finished with natural oil, this table honors both craft and imperfection
