Eviedale Bakehouse

See this product at: Scotland Trade Fairs

Located in Evie village on Orkney’s west mainland, Eviedale Bakehouse is the island’s first dedicated sourdough bakery. Their focus is on real bread, naturally leavened with wild yeast, sourdough pastries and wood-fired pizza.

Eviedale Bakehouse have now developed a new product, exploring the use of the local ancient grain, Bere Barley. This neolithic heritage grain is exclusively milled at The Barony Mill, the last working watermill in Orkney. The only mill in the world milling Bere barley.

Eviedale’s signature crackers are made from a 10-year-old sourdough starter, Beremeal, organic flour, olive oil, dark muscovado sugar, and sea salt. The seeded crackers feature a blend of 5 organic omega 3 seeds, adding protein and full moreish flavour.  The result is a crisp, nutty, and nutritious snack—vegan, dairy free, seed oil free, low in gluten, and with a 6-month shelf life. Perfect with cheese or smoked fish, every batch blends tradition and innovation, offering a true taste of the far north.
